Privacy Notice

How Recikee handles personal data for US and Canada users, including Quebec.

Scope

  • This notice applies to Recikee web app users in the US and Canada.
  • It explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how consent choices affect analytics.
  • We do not offer ad targeting and do not sell personal information.

What we collect

  • Account and security data: email, password hash, session records.
  • Product data: recipes, shopping list items, and app settings.
  • Consent records: analytics preference, consent version, region, timestamp, and source (banner or settings).
  • Optional analytics data is processed through GA4 and our internal reporting infrastructure only after explicit analytics consent is granted.

How we use data

  • To run your account and keep sign-in and app security working.
  • To provide recipe and shopping list functionality you request.
  • To measure product usage and improve the app when analytics is enabled.

Consent and analytics controls

  • Analytics is off by default (`analyticsConsent = false`).
  • Before consent, GA4 scripts are not loaded.
  • You can allow or reject analytics on the banner and change it in Settings.
  • When consent changes, we record a consent log with timestamp, version, region, and source.

Cookies and similar technologies

  • We use necessary cookies for sign-in and security, including `rk_session` and `rk_logged_in`.
  • We store your consent choice in `rk_consent_v1` and may set `rk_consent_id` to connect consent logs before login.
  • GA4 cookies (`_ga`, `_ga_*`) are used only when analytics consent is granted.
  • If analytics consent is rejected or withdrawn, analytics collection is disabled.

Regional notices

  • California: we provide notice at collection in this page and consent banner. This notice states that we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Canada and Quebec: analytics consent is explicit, optional, and can be withdrawn at any time from Settings.
  • We support core privacy controls in-app (export data, delete account, withdraw analytics consent).

Data retention and contact

  • Session data is retained for account access and expires based on the session policy.
  • Account content is retained until you delete it or request account deletion.
  • Consent logs are retained to document your privacy choices.
  • Privacy requests: use in-app controls in Settings. If you cannot access your account, contact: noreply@recikee.com.
  • We may update this notice for product or legal changes. The consent version above is the current reference.
